The Cycle of giving
The Jerusalem Sewing Cooperative is designed to maximize the impact of your contribution and create unity amongst the Jewish People. Through the levels of assistance that spiral out from each donation, many people in Israel are connected by the generosity and caring which originates with the donor abroad.
Consider the heart-warming effect on an impoverished family when their daughter is welcomed into The JSC through the sponsorship of a "stranger" who cares. Imagine growing up in poverty and receiving a phone call that someone you don't know has just purchased equipment for you and is going to help you start your own business!
Each generous donation helps a young woman build her own cottage industry, produce clothing and linens for her own family, and create beautiful linen sets for distribution to underprivileged young couples.
And the seamstresses, themselves, have taken it even further! Each seamstress voluntarily designs and sews holiday dresses for needy little girls throughout Israel. In many cases, these lovingly-made dresses are the first new clothes that these girls have ever received!
Through these many facets of the JSC, the young seamstresses are moved to see their own significant role amongst the Jewish people - graciously receiving from those with greater means, and through their own handiwork, providing for others with lesser means. From the seamstresses to the textile vendors to the taxi drivers who deliver our orders, the cycle of giving that begins with your donation spreads feelings of appreciation and goodness, increasing the sense of family within the family of Israel.
